Acceptance-based psychotherapy teaches skills that help us deal with the pain in our lives, and offers the opportunity to gain greater control over our lives – and the direction we choose to move toward.
Mindful self-awareness increases. Self-acceptance increases. Self-blame decreases. We become more mindful of our thoughts, feelings, sensations, and how we handle situations – internally and externally.
Self-acceptance increases, along with the ability to be honest with ourselves. The ability to cope with difficulty increases as we sit with our feelings, and learn to accept “what is” (whether we like it or not) – rather than run from “it.”
You are more likely to trade the passenger seat for the driver’s seat of your life. You can take control – rather than be controlled by life, people, places and things. You recognize that you have choices – and that you run the show! That’s freedom!
